September 1, 2012.
September is upon us. How in the hell did that happen? Every other year the summer has literally dragged by as we work towards autumn looking forward to the moment we can once again head south. This year, BAM, summers gone and there’s only 399 days left to departure.
As you all know we're making the most of the opportunity and giving the Veranda a major refit. The first draft of our “To Do” list is pretty extensive. Some of the items are necessary while others have made the list due to convenience. We'll be off the boat for a few months so I’ll be able to really tear the boat apart rather than to try and work around us living in the boat.
Removing the generator and replacing the engine are the biggies. We'll tackle those once we're out of the water. In the mean time we've started addressing what we can. The new mattress is in place (we might as well be comfortable while we're here) and the new stove now lives in the galley. The old anchor chain is now gone from the locker. Once the anchor locker has been repainted there will be 200 feet of new 3/8ths G-4 slipped inside.
So we've knocked a few of the smaller items off the list but every journey starts with a few steps....

That is a good looking stove. What brand did you go with? I'm asking because we will be swapping ours out this winter. Can you pass along any tips/suggestions?
Its a Seaward 3 burner with electronic start. Its called a Gourmet II. It was a drop in replacement for our 27 year old original stove which was also a Seaward. So far theres only been rave reviews from the galley...
I sure hope your small steps are all in the forward direction. We've been taking 1 step forward and 3 back lately...

Where did you score the anchor chain? That's on our list as ours is a big rust pile!
Yeah Deb, Lately boating has seemed a lot like the hokey pokey
I haven't even looked at chain yet. I don't want to start the "rust clock" until we're about to depart...
Where's the Wine fridge? I didn't see that on the list ;)
Those 399 days will be down to nothing before you know it. Good luck on the list. You knocked the two most important things off already :)
Cubes we got....
Can I come up and .... watch?
As long as you bring beer....lol
Been kind of lazy here not reading blogs or doing our blog. See you got a new mattress. Did you get it from bargin bedding? The watermaker. Replacing if so what make?
The matress was a bargain alright. The watermaker is a little Wonder 200. Its just time for new membranes....
WTF ... 339 days till departure? No fishing at Hog Cay this year?
I barely believe it myself.....
