Molly

Born February 26, 1996 Died January 20, 2011

Faithful companion for 15 years. Accomplished dancer. Part time singer. Senior ships dog and dolphin spotter. Loved the water. Hated fireworks. Adored dolphins. Despised thunder. Lived for the dinghy ride. Thought that the goats at Hog Cay were her personal Pamplona. She was the bull. Daredevil. Fell off the boat only once. Destroyer of unattended plastic bags. Big sister. Enjoyed being mistaken for the younger one. To dignified to chase a damn ball. Didn’t need thumbs. Comfortable with her weight. Bit Bill for sport. Sunbather. Always alert. The silent sentinel. She was the best girl. Weighed 12 pounds. Half of it was heart. Enjoyed this life. Our sweetheart. A fighter at the end….

Interred high on a ridge now known as Molly’s Overlook. She can see the sunrise, the sunset and she can run with the goats to her hearts content. Adored by most, mourned by many and missed terribly on the Veranda….

Dearest Molly, may you snooze sweetly on in the warm sunshine and the cool shade.

Words won't help, we know. But as fellow schnauzer parents and boat owners who hope to cruise, I can imagine this must hurt to the core. They might not be human, but they are so definitely the best part of family.

Our thoughts will be with you all, and we'll drop a carnation and a dog treat in the Pacific in her honor.

Sorry for your loss. It's a sad moment when we lose our closest friends. Keep her alive in your mind by remembering all the good times you had together. Dogs are awesome.

Bill and Christy, Our hearts go out to you both as Jeannie and I are dog people as well. We know the sorrow your feeling as when we lost our golden retriever of 16 years it took me a long time to get over it, Just like Molley he did everything with me and went everyplace. Randy

Sorry to read of your loss. Especially after that long. The daily interaction is so deeply engrained.

Last month we lost our Lab of 5 one day and our Heeler of 14 the next. It still hits us.

I enjoy your adventures and wish you happier days.~Everett

Bill and Christy and Tucker,
I just learned about your blog and your adventure recently. Reading this post, me, 6'4", 270, menacing scar on my left temple, sit here with a falling tide full of tears rolling down my cheeks.....Rummer, our Portuguese Water Dog, left us to chase eternal squirrels a month ago. Just in the last few days have I even been able to smile a bit, thinking about all the unique ways a WATER DOG could find to fall off the boat, the dock, hell even the beach....and it wasn't because he had any interest in salt water at all....They sure carve out a place in your life, don't they......We never met your girl, but there is a place for her (and Tucker and you!) in our hearts....Sail on, Molly...
